Supervisor/Manager, Business Valuation: Calgary, AB

Our Calgary office has an immediate opening for a supervisor or junior manager level Chartered Business Valuator to join our team.

Job Description:

We are looking for a qualified business valuator to join our Calgary office.  The focus of this position will be on litigation matters and assisting on significant insurance assignments.  Working within the MDD group, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the management and completion of client deliverables. The position will also involve business development activities, with new and/or existing clients, which can result in after hour demands on time.

There is some expectation of travel with this position, depending on the nature of the assignment.  In addition, given the nature of our work and practice, there can be opportunities for domestic and international travel.

Requirements:

  • CBV designation
  • Understanding of concepts in business valuation, loss quantification, and an acumen for, or interest in understanding stakeholder interests when assisting in a litigation support role

Our London office is currently seeking an Intern to join our team.

Job Description:

You will work on client assignments in a variety of industries such as retail, FMCGs, petrochemicals, mining, energy and leisure. Each project requires analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex financial and business related issues in a clear and concise manner, and often to strict deadlines.

You will be exposed to a variety of sectors and be able to develop an understanding of analytical techniques used in business valuation and performance measurement. From the start you will be given real responsibility that will allow you to develop your professional skills and knowledge. During your placement you will receive regular professional skills training and be assigned a mentor.

Upon successful completion of the placement the candidate will be considered for a potential graduate position.

Requirements:

You must be studying for a degree that requires you to undertake a 12-month industrial placement.

  • Grade A for GCSE Maths and English Language
  • At least 300 UCAS points (excluding General Studies and re-sits)
  • A predicted 2:1 honours in an Accounting, Finance or Economics related degree
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel and Word is also essential

This person will direct the HR practices and strategies in support of the critical customer-facing and firm administrative functions of our business. This position will partner with our company management to ensure the successful implementation and uniform administration of company-wide initiatives and practices throughout twenty-two offices. Responsibilities include directing and coordinating human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services.

  • Partner with leaders and their teams to develop and execute HR strategies and activities that foster growth, innovation, and organizational effectiveness
  • Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all US personnel
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Assists in the recruitment efforts to fill vacant positions, including development of position descriptions for new roles

  • Plan, coordinate and attend the annual Member meetings of MDD International Limited, and provide support to Global Managing Partner of MDD International Limited.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience
  • Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential
  • Advanced knowledge of employment laws and practices, preferably spanning more than one HR discipline
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Intermediate to advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office [e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.]
  • Ability to coordinate and implement policies and procedures remotely
