Hurricane Idalia – Update 1

Florida, USA CAT 1 29 August, 2023

As of Tuesday 29th August, Idalia has strengthened to a Cat 1 hurricane and is expected to intensify to a Cat 3 by landfall on Wednesday. The storm surge is the biggest hazard as it is expected that tide levels will be 8 to 12 feet above normal in the Big Bend area of Florida. After making landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast, it is expected to continue northeastward over Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. Torrential downpours and threats of tornados are likely.
