Our firm was hired by insurers to measure the economic damages suffered in relation to a chemical leak from a petrochemical plant.
The insured utilised a number of pipelines to transport chemicals in and out of the production plant and one of these pipelines eroded over time which caused Naphtha to leak into a nearby river. The leak resulted in the need for significant remediation activities to be undertaken by the insured in order to remedy the situation with some of these activities continuing for a number of years.
Our role was to review and confirm the quantum of loss relating to areas such as water remediation costs, investigation costs, pipeline costs and additional labour. The claim amounted to approximately €35,000,000 and involved review of over 1,000 invoice documents.
