Heather is a Vice President in MDD Forensic Accountants’ Calgary office. She works exclusively in matters pertaining to business valuations and litigation support services.
Accordingly, her expertise is both varied and significant, and she has assisted clients with a wide range of financial matters involving family law, shareholder disputes, personal injury, corporate reorganizations and tax & estate planning.
Over the course of her more than 20-year career, Heather has been called upon as an expert witness and has given testimony in the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and also at arbitration and mediation hearings.
Her sector knowledge spans numerous industries, including oil & gas, petroleum distribution, professional services (such as law, engineering, medical and accounting), real estate development, construction, food services, retail, wholesale/distribution and manufacturing.
As someone who enjoys sharing her knowledge with others, Heather has taught various courses, made a number of speeches and authored articles. She has provided educational instruction through the Legal Education Society of Alberta and the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law and has spoken to organizations in the banking and accounting on matters related to business valuations, guideline income calculations and the use of financial experts.
She has spoken to law firms on these same topics and has also provided her insight on the issues of loss quantification, matrimonial disputes, understanding financial statements and how forensic accountants/business valuators can assist with dispute resolution.
Heather is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Arts in Economics from Queen’s University.
