Dusty Bredeson

Dusty joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Atlanta office in 1985. In 1988, he relocated to Charlotte where he helped build the firm’s local office. In 2003 he became a partner at that location.

A forensic accountant for over 30 years, Dusty specializes in the quantification of economic damages in the following practice areas: lost profitsbusiness interruption, extra expenses, fidelity claims, physical damages, builder’s risk, stock & contents and liability claims

He is also experienced in providing catastrophe loss services following natural disasters.

Dusty has worked on engagements across a wide range of industries such as chemical manufacturing, hospitals, hotels, rental property, pharmaceuticals, textiles, furniture, retail and wholesale and professional services.

He has years of experience providing litigation support services and has rendered expert witness testimony at depositions and in court.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Gerry Bouwman

Gerry Bouwman is the Chief Strategy & Development Officer at MDD. In this role, he works with global clients to understand their needs and ensure that MDD’s unrivalled team of global forensic accounting experts meets their demands.

An internationally respected expert in his own right, Gerry joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1993. Over that time, he has assisted clients with economic damage quantification and litigation support matters related to business interruption losses, extra expenses, construction defects, physical damages, contingency/entertainment, products liability & recall, lost profits, catastrophe services, business disputes, and cyber-attacks.

His industry expertise encompasses automotive, aviation, construction, all types of manufacturing, entertainment, hotels & resorts, retail, wholesale, and transportation. Notably, Gerry has worked on many assignments in power generation, mining & refining, and steel processing.

He has served as an accounting expert in arbitrations, mediations, and appraisals and rendered expert reports for matters in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, South America, and Europe.

Gerry has authored articles on topics such as business interruption that have appeared in publications such as Claims Canada. He has also conducted numerous seminars and workshops on many issues related to economic damage quantification.

Before taking on his current position, Gerry was a Partner/Senior Vice President for MDD’s Canadian entity. In this capacity, he served as the Canadian Director of Business Development & Marketing and Canadian CAT Coordinator. He was also a member of MDD’s Global Catastrophe Team and the firm’s Global Executive Committee. He currently has a key role on MDD’s Global Energy team.

Kent Bogdan

Kent began his career at MDD Forensic Accountants in 1988, working under the tutelage of one of the firm’s founding partners. He became a partner at MDD’s Dallas office in 2002.

A CPA in the state of Texas and a Master Analyst in Financial Forensics, Kent’s practice areas include business interruption, extra expenses, inventory and physical damage claims, product liability and lost profits. He also takes an active role in arbitrations, appraisals and mediation cases.

In the past, Kent was involved in the preparation of claims of war damage by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company against the Government of Iraq in accordance with a resolution by the United Nations.

Kent has calculated economic damages for a wide variety of industries including energy (refineries, pipelines and power plants), petrochemical, manufacturing, textile, entertainment, retail and wholesale, restaurants, gaming and resorts.

He has been named an expert in both state and federal courts and has testified on numerous litigation matters.

Kent has presented seminars on topics that include builders’ risk, business interruption losses, insurable values and the accountant’s role in an insurance claim.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Jeffrey Belack

Jeff opened MDD Forensic Accountants’ Pittsburgh office in January 2001. He is a Partner at the firm.

A CPA for over twenty-five years with extensive experience in damage quantification, Jeff’s practice focuses on matters pertaining to business interruption and physical damages. He has also been involved in engagements related to extra expenses, personal injury & wrongful death, lost profits, stock & contents, fidelity claims, fraud and investigations, product liability & recall and subrogation.

Jeff works with insurance carriers and Fortune 500 companies across a wide range of industries including automotive, mining, chemical manufacturing, hotel and hospitality, steel, aluminum, minerals, aggregates, glass, retail and wholesale, real estate, industrial printing, technology, and professional services.

Jeff has been retained on major litigation assignments and has served as a consultant on a wide variety of cases, including those involving an assessment of financial condition. He regularly serves as an expert witness and provides testimony in state and Federal courts and alternative dispute settings.

Jeff has conducted seminars and workshops for leading insurance companies and was partner-in-charge of MDD’s global training for 3 years.

He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

David Maritz

David joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Auckland, New Zealand office in 2013. He is a Partner at the firm, overseeing the Australasia region.

David has over twenty years of economic damage quantification experience. He helped establish the first specialist forensic accounting/claim preparation consultancy in New Zealand and has held senior management positions at some of the region’s top forensic accounting firms.

David’s professional practice focuses on matters related to business interruption, lost profits, fidelity claims, fraud, and natural disasters. Additionally, he has a wealth of experience in the catastrophe services area. This includes assignments resulting from the Auckland power outage, Fiji floods, Canterbury earthquakes, Queensland Floods, Japanese tsunami and Thailand floods. 

David has managed losses in New Zealand, Australia and throughout Asia.

He has participated as an expert witness on quantum in arbitrations and has serviced as an expert advisor on quantum in numerous mediations.

David graduated from the University of Natal, South Africa with Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees. He also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies (Dispute Resolution) at Massey University, New Zealand.
